May we extend a warm welcome to our practice. We take great pride in the quality of our dentistry and want to make your visits a pleasant experience. Our aim is good dental health for you and your family through preventative dentistry.
APPOINTMENTS AND EMERGENCIES
If you need to be seen urgently, please telephone the surgery first thing on a morning. If the treatment is essential we will do our best to arrange it within 24 hours. For emergencies out of hours you should telephone NHS Direct on 111.
Please give at least 24 hours notice if you have to cancel an appointment.
Once your initial treatment is complete we will encourage you to come back at regular intervals. We operate a recall system to remind you when your next visit is due.
NEW PATIENTS
We are accepting new patients to the practice. Telephone or call in to the practice to arrange an appointment. If you would like register on our Village Plan please contact the practice for further information on the best option for you.
NEW NHS PATIENTS CHARGES
Under the new dental contract there are now only three bands of payment.
BAND 1 £18.00
This is for your check up, assessment and advice, scale and polish and x-rays.
BAND 2 £49.00
This covers additional treatments such as fillings, extractions and root canal treatment.
BAND 3 £214.00
This includes procedures such as crowns or dentures.
We will require payment for the cost of treatment prior to making further appointments.
If you qualify for free treatment under the NHS, we will be able to discuss the details and give you advice. Please bring evidence of your exemption with you.
SPECIAL SERVICES FOR PATIENTS
If you find the stairs difficult please let us know and we will arrange for your treatment to be carried out in our surgery one of our downstairs surgeries.
We always regard children as very special patients and do everything to make their visits as pleasant and as enjoyable as possible. Our aim is to help form good dental habits which will prevent problems with their teeth in later life
PRACTICE LOCATION
The practice is situated on Whickham Front Street in which busses from Stanley (43) Burnopfield (MC1), Winlaton (639), Gateshead (97) and Newcastle (43a) Most of the buses also run through the Metro Centre Interchange.
PARKING FACILITIES
There are parking facilities behind the practice for patients which are open 24 hours. There are also spaces available along the Front Street for short stays.
LANGUAGES
The languages spoken at this practice are English and Punjabi. Please bring an interpreter with you if you feel that we will have difficulty understanding each other.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN TOWARDS VIOLENT OR ABUSIVE PATIENTS
The Village Dental Practice operates a zero tolerance approach to violent or abusive behaviour toward the staff.
Our practice is within the South and Tyne PCT whose address is Loftus House, Colima Avenue, Sunderland Enterprise Park, Sunderland SR5 3XB Tel:0191 5297000.
We offer a range of NHS dental treatments but do not offer the following: General Anaesthetic, Relative Analgesia, Orthodontics and Home Visits.
Should you feel unhappy about any aspects of your dental care please contact the practice in writing.
PATIENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your dentist should:
- Explain treatment options and what can be provided on the NHS or privately. Provide a written treatment plan if you are receiving a mix of NHS and private treatment.
- Discuss how often you need to attend.
You should
- Give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel an appointment.
- Pay your bill promptly.
- Follow the dentist’s advice to prevent tooth decay.
